With Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s non-EU registration situation creating room within the squad, Milan renewed their efforts to sign Iranian international Mehdi Taremi from Porto.
Following lengthy negotiations, Milan moved closer to Porto’s demands by restructuring their proposal around a reduced guaranteed fee combined with performance-related bonuses. Porto gradually softened their position, and an agreement appeared to be within touching distance. However, just before the deal could be completed, negotiations were unexpectedly interrupted. One player they have still been unable to move, however, is Divock Origi.
Milan previously explored the possibility of using Origi as part of an attempt to sign Sevilla’s leading striker Youssef En-Nesyri, but negotiations collapsed after the Spanish club demanded a transfer fee Milan considered too high.
